'The Personal invitation': Cultivation of the Listening Gaze
A still life on a table in a sunny garden, lushly filled with plants and flowers. The vitality of nature in the garden bursts from the canvas; it is not immediately noticeable, but there is not a single withered leaf to be seen. On the table to the right in the composition stands a still life: a bowl of green apples and one red apple lying on an IV drip. Generally, the titles of Mathieu V. Staelens' paintings are descriptive, but in some cases, they act more as a compass to reach the deeper meaning of the work.
The exhibition 'Sustainable Love 4 Life' runs from April 20th to May 19th: Friday-Saturday-Sunday, from 1 pm to 6 pm each day.
Also during Antwerp Art Weekend the gallery is open. On Sunday the 19th of May, the artist will be present.
