In this diptych, Javier Calleja brings together life’s contradictions and possibilities. It Wasn’t Me plays with mischief, hovering between innocence and unease, while Floating evokes daydreaming and a sense of boundless freedom. Together, the works form a “simple but not easy” narrative, capturing two suspended moments from an unwritten story.
The diptych consists of two etchings, each in an edition of 250. The prints are produced using a 15-colour engraving process with four photopolymer etching plates on a digitally printed background. The final colour is applied by hand by the printmaker, giving each work a subtle artisanal character.
Printed on 65 gsm Shin Inbe paper and mounted on 290 gsm Fabriano Tiepolo paper.

Javier Calleja (b. 1971, Málaga) is a Spanish contemporary artist whose ironic and emotionally charged visual language explores the tension between innocence and cynicism.
