Julien Berthier (born 1975 in Besançon, France) is a French contemporary artist living and working in the Paris. He is represented by Galerie Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois.
Berthier creates objects that are simultaneously hyperrealistic and fictional, confronting them with public space. His work plays with permanent ambiguity: he offers both plausible objects (that could exist in our world) and their critique. Through irony and feigned ignorance, he stimulates questioning and reflection on our society.
Notable projects include the fully seaworthy "Love Love" yacht and his recent installation "Passion potelet" (2025), where urban bollards are transformed into sculptural objects. His work is regularly exhibited in Paris and internationally.
